Il design guarda il mondo attraverso le sagome che crea, e noi le adattiamo alle realtà che lo compongono. Gli arredi raccolti in questa stanza si ispirano alle forme della geometria, come fossero astrazioni mentali di tipologie d’arredo. Sono l’esito di un coerente sviluppo progettuale che traduce le esigenze di carattere funzionale, sociale e formale, pensando a un armonico inserimento nell’ambiente. Spesso confuso con il concetto di minimale, essenziale significa indispensabile o che contiene l’essenza di qualcosa. Nel caso del design: l’elemento costitutivo. La semplificazione è la ricerca di un equilibrio che, negli elementi compositivi degli oggetti, non lascia spazio al superfluo e li rendono spesso pratici ed etici. Questo rimane. E allora, per ottenere la definizione di una forma, si modella il materiale fino al limite consentito. Si adottano tecniche inesplorate. Si ribalta ciò che è elementare in scultoreo. Si cerca lo stupore della stabilità in un’unione di forme che appare precaria.

The furnishings collected in this room are inspired by geometric shapes, as if they were mental abstractions of furnishing typologies. They are the result of a coherent design process that meets functional, social and formal needs, envisaging a harmonious blend with the environment. Often confused with the concept of minimal, essential means indispensable or holding the essence of something. In the case of design, it means the core feature. Simplification is the search for a balance that, in the core features of items, leaves no room for the superfluous and often makes them practical and ethical. That’s all. Thus, to define a form, designers shape the material to its limits, also using unexplored techniques; turning what’s elementary into sculptural; or seeking the magic of stability in a mix of shapes that seems unstable.
