Il gioco degli opposti è la lente con cui attraversare e guardare tutti gli spazi disegnati da Calvi Brambilla dove gli ambienti si rivelano nell’imprinting che la progettazione lascia negli oggetti, rendendoli sempre attuali. Fra memoria e meraviglia l’allestimento è costruito sulla scia di sentimenti opposti, miscelando citazioni d’arte e di interior design. Senza dimenticare che le lancette sono sull’oggi e il sentimento diluito nelle stanze del settecentesco Palazzo Bovara è quello dei nostri giorni. Incuranti del tempo che passa alcuni primi arredi lasciano la loro testimonianza. Mentre la rete tecnica, inaspettatamente rosa, qui riveste, ma senza occultare alla vista, la struttura originale del Palazzo. Nell’ammiccante vedo-non-vedo si registra inconsapevolmente la presenza della Storia. E si procede. È il preludio della mostra. Con l’idea di una fusione vitale fra design, architettura e persone, l’immagine degli oggetti è cristallizzata, non musealizzata. L’arte insegna. Lo specchio è una metafora polivalente. Cattura la multiformità. Nel riflesso dell’immagine reale avviene lo scambio virtuale fra l’oggetto intrappolato nel volume specchiante e chi lo guarda, in un rapporto che da statico diviene improvvisamente dinamico. Mentre si restituisce la peculiare virtù del design di creare legami profondi fra noi e ciò che ci circonda, si allude al variegato panorama abitativo contemporaneo connotato dalla convivenza di presente e passato. Spazio e tempo, nella mostra, sono utilizzati come strumenti per esplorare la storia del design, comprendere i cambiamenti e il perché ci sono cose che non vengono spazzate via nell’avvicendarsi delle stagioni progettuali. La sintonia che si crea fra oggetti pensati ieri e prodotti di oggi è da cercare nello spirito che li accomuna da scoprire nelle quattro stanze a seguire.

The play of opposites is the key to cross, observe and interpret the spaces designed by Calvi Brambilla, where environments are revealed by the imprinting that a project leaves on objects, making them always relevant. Between memory and wonder, the setup is built on the wake of contrasting feelings, mixing references from art and interior design, without forgetting that the hands are on the present day and that the rooms of the 18th century Bovara Palace are imbued with a current spirit. Heedless of the passing of time, some early furnishings leave their mark. For instance, here an unexpectedly pink technical scaffolding covers the original structure of the Palace, but without obstructing its view. One can say that, thanks to the suggestive see-through, the presence of history is unconsciously registered. Moving forward. This space introduces visitors to the exhibition. Based on the idea of a vital fusion of design, architecture and people, the image of objects is crystallised, not musealised. Art teaches. The mirror is a polyvalent metaphor and captures multiformity. In the reflection of a real item, a virtual exchange between the object ‘captured’ in the mirror and the beholder takes place, establishing a relationship that from static suddenly becomes dynamic. While expressing the peculiar ability of design to create deep links between us and our surroundings, it alludes to the multifaceted contemporary home sector, where present and past coexist. In the exhibition, space and time are used as means to explore the history of design, to understand changes and why there are elements that survived the passing of time. The harmony between design pieces of yesterday and today can be found in the spirit that unites them, to be discovered in the following four rooms.
